Description

If people don't think I'm serious when I say, "Offer a character back to me if you cannot keep it or leave the game," think again.

F. Taini

Means "Returning Moon" to represent her return to Fortezza.

Breed: Cane Corso
Gender: Female
Genotype: KBn Ee EMEM Dd
Phenotype: Black with white splash on chest and both hind feet are white. Her mucous membranes are a combination of pink, grey, and black. She has good hair coverage throughout except it is thin over the lower abdomen, possibly from growing up on a poor diet. Her eyes are a rich, bright caramel. Her nails are all black.

History
I bred Taini 2-1/2 years ago (July 2011). Her pedigree goes way back to second generation Fortezza, from Nikolai and Emilia. She was sold to a user who agreed to comply with my rules, including to write a full reference and to offer her back to me if s/he were to become inactive or unable to keep her. This person put a simple picture of her up with no background and no information. I contacted this person a few times to remind/ask when her information would be no. This person never answered. I left it alone for a bit. I noted later that it was practically an abandoned kennel. I reserved the right to take back this character should anything happen, which was also agreed to by this user, so I have done it.

The picture in the corner, if you can believe it, is the same dog, Taini, three months prior to her current image. She was extremely skinny. She resembled a skinny Boxer. Deep chest, hip bones, sternum, and spine sticking out, all ribs visible. Her entire musculature was severely hypertrophied. Within a few weeks, she already gained 8 lbs of fat and muscle. Taini is back to a healthy weight but her body still shows signs of growing up poorly managed. Her fur is very thin in some areas and her back sways a little. She has a hump over her back which comes out when she stands a certain way, which I attribute to poor feeding as a puppy.

Temperament
Unfortunately, Taini may never be able to be what she was meant to be. She is very frightened at most loud sounds, such as many dogs barking, thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. She tries to stick it out and be courageous, which is wonderful, but in the end, there is no point because she really just cannot handle a loud, busy environment. She is quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't want to have anything to do with other dogs. She does love her people though, and is quite gentle with friendly people. She doesn't show signs of being physically abused, only neglected, which is also abuse in my eyes, so she still trusts people but doesn't have any of the stable traits that my dogs have. Her dam and sire both were great dogs, and Koralei's side of the family had no temperament problems. In fact, Nikolai and Emilia were both very typical in temperament. So, the culprit is not likely genetic and most likely nurture.

She is great with cats, rabbits, and other small animals. She also seems to have taken a liking to the horses. She wants to do well, and wants to get better, but needs to take it step by step, very slowly, as she doesn't have the confidence nor the socialization to do anything quickly. We really have to take our time with her and have only a tiny bit of progress per day. Even if we don't see the progress, we know everything we do with her is another step towards being able to be adopted out.

She will be adopted to a virtual family or stay with us, depending on her progress. She is very stressed all of the time and we hope that she will make progress.
