Low-level genetics understanding
I'll start off with the fact I'm not AGAINST breeding or breeders in any way and I am NOT one of those animal rights activists who believe ALL breeders are "the problem" and that every single person needs to desist breeding to fix the problem we apparently have in shelters (that's a whole 'nother conversation in my eyes). BUT!!! I was scrolling through Instagram and found an interesting-looking cat so I clicked on it, and the description read: "If Simba and Bala have babies in a few months, they might look something like this depending on which genetics takeover more! #MaineCoon #Bengal The cat looked like how you'd imagine. Long hair, the coloring of a Bengal, and a non-type head and muzzle that was cute and pretty. I asked, "What is the goal of crossbreeding these? Two completely different breeds in and of themselves." Someone replied, "To get the best of both worlds!" I didn't reply any more than this because this answer, to me, showed this person either has VERY LITTLE
Fortezza: Not a real kennel, no real dogs!
DISCLAIMER... I have nothing to do with https://www.instagram.com/corsodellafortezza/?hl=en A real-life kennel named Corso della Fortezza... My kennel "Fortezza" on DeviantART, on reinafawn.deviantart.com, is a FICTIONAL writing-based art game that I started in 2009. I am not selling ANYTHING. No real-life dogs exist here behind the pictures and writing. It is all from my brain and I do it for fun off and on when I have time, because dog breeding + training + raising is one of my passions (and I just so happen to have specialized in the Cane Corso). . . I have no idea when this RL kennel started but it had nothing to do with me that I know of, maybe they got the idea from me but probably not. "Fortezza" is a pretty generic word in Italian; often Corso breeders like to use words or kennel themes that are gothic or ancient in nature, and "fortress" would definitely fit in that category. 😇
facts about cane corso
Written by reinafawn 2022 . . . The "Cane" in Cane Corso means "dog" in Italian. It is pronounced ca-neigh or connie or can-neh ... anything but kayne. The correct short way to refer to a Cane Corso is "Corso", not "Cane". Correct colors are black, grey, red or fawn with black or grey mask, black brindle or grey brindle on red or fawn base with mask. Minimal white on toes, chest, chin, with small strip on bridge of nose is okay. Liver, tan points, merle, and any other color not listed on the standards are to be disqualified from a breeding program. Red or fawn with grey mask is called "formentino". Before kennel club recognition, "Cane da Presa" was a dog type in Italy under which both the Mastino Napoletano (Neapolitan Mastiff) and Cane Corso fell. These were simply "types", in that they weren't bred for a specific look but specific working abilities. Modern kennel club Neo and kennel club Corso may have the same name as their historical cousins but are different now. White
